| Marcello Tuscany Room in San Pedro is a favorite among South
Bay diners. A steady flow of friends, regular patrons and the
curious alike come to see Michael Cutri (owner) and savor the culinary
treats that are prepared for them. It is no secret that the San Pedro area is home to some of the South Bay's best restaurants. Boasting an array of cuisine from virtually every corner of the world, dining aficionados come from all over to satisfy their taste buds in this tucked away harbor town. Marcello's now carries on that tradition and becomes the "flagship" of sorts among high-end dining. Michael has achieved much success as a restaurateur. Having grown up in Goia Taur Calabria, Italy, he learned very early on about the culinary delights of his native land. He worked very hard in this sleepy fishing village in southern Italy where he mastered the art of seafood preparation and presentation. Michael turned down an art scholarship to the University in Calabria and instead attended on of Italy's foremost culinary institutes in Genoa. He then traveled throughout Italy where he polished his skills and learned the art of preparing classic Italian Cuisine. Ultimately settling in San Pedro, in 1990, the first of his dreams was realized with the opening of Raffaello's Ristorante. A huge success and a favorite to the locals and surrounding areas. Raefallo's remains in the family and is now operated by brothers, Gino and Tony. Out of his experience, Michael has realized his vision of a prime restaurant and banquet facility in the heart of San Pedro. Marcello Tuscany Room has allowed him to present his culinary skills at the highest level possible. As you enter the sprawling Tuscany Room, you don't get the feeling you are entering a restaurant at all, instead you feel as if you are entering a cruise ship's main dining room. From its towering open beam ceilings, to the beautiful sweeping stair case, it is instantly apparent that nothing was held back in the creation of this masterpiece. Michael's wish, to "turn out special and memorable cuisine that is flavorful and prepared with the freshet of ingredients" is achieved flawlessly. A menu featuring such eclectic delights as Charcuterie Plate, cured meats, quiche paste among many others, achieves that goal to perfection. |
